Intellectual Disabilities

"For whatever you did for one of these, the least of my brothers, you did for me."

One of the most popular and successful fundraisers conducted by state and local councils for the benefit of people with intellectual disabilities involves collecting donations outside stores and on street corners. In appreciation, the donor is o?ered a piece of candy, such as a Tootsie Roll. The high visibility of this program has led to the campaign being referred to as the "Tootsie Roll Drive." This campaign raised $537,310 last year alone and millions of dollars over the years to support adults and children, and men and women with intellectual disabilities.
